Behind the scenes

Something particularly exciting to me while working on this series is the ability to incorporate real places and sense memories. I’ve posted the occasional reference photo on Instagram of the real places that inspired certain elements or scenes in these books, but did you know that I took the photo used for the sneaky background of book three? This particular bullfighting ring is located in my mom’s hometown and not only is it used as a setting in Battle del Espíritu, but it seemed perfect for the cover.

Each book in the Fifth Sun series contains authentic Mexican recipes at the back of the book (paperback editions only). I mention food quite a lot in these books and thought why not offer a few recipes for you to try for yourself? Each book in the series contains different recipes so you’ll want to purchase all five books to collect them all! I hope you enjoy this extra taste of Mexico.

I’m always a bit behind the times when it comes to social media, but a few author friends of mine finally convinced me to give TikTok a try.
